Alliance for Better Care is a membership organisation and community interest company with an ambitious vision rooted in relationships with practices and communities. ABC has developed a highly valued financial service offered to Practices, PCNs, and Federations beyond our membership. This service is provided by an expert team that requires ongoing support for growth and development.

The Head of CURA Finance is a key member of that team, responsible for sustaining and supporting our consultancy finance functions, focusing on profit growth, customer satisfaction, and team management. This role reports to the AD for Finance and Corporate Services, who oversees the overall success of this service.


Main Duties

The ability to work across the SLT and ensure effective management of the CURA finance function within Operations, Transformation, or Enabling functions is crucial. Building strong relationships with SLT members and understanding their capacity is essential for success.

Strategy Development & Business Planning

* Drive business growth with a strategic vision for maintaining high-quality service delivery
* Maintain and grow relationships with AISMA accountants
* Ensure efficiency and profitability of the department
* Manage the accountant and bookkeeping team
* Knowledge of Xero accounting software
* Lead annual budgeting, aligning with strategic priorities
* Prepare rolling forecasts and scenario plans for agile decision-making

Alliance for Better Care (ABC) is a GP Federation uniting 77 NHS GP practices across 98 sites within 24 Primary Care Networks in Sussex and Surrey. We support our Primary Care colleagues and their patients to transform healthcare delivery.

Our partnerships with GP Practices, PCNs, Hospitals, Community Organisations, and the Third Sector enable us to deliver integrated support and expertise.

Job Responsibilities


Partnership Accounts

* Manage prior shares, drawings allocation, NHS pensions, and performer list requirements
* Oversee current, property, and capital accounts
* Handle GP practice funding processes
* Monthly management accounts reporting, including balance sheet controls and reconciliation
* Prepare year-end accounts and present financial positions clearly to the Partnership Board


PCN Accounts

* Understand ARRS framework, DES, and funding streams
* Monthly management accounts reporting and reconciliation
* Present financial positions to the PCN Board and prepare year-end accounts


External Representation

Represent ABC in external meetings, ensuring alignment with our mission and values, providing innovative solutions, and identifying opportunities to advance ABC’s strategy.

Qualifications

* Degree level education or equivalent


Experience

* Leading high-quality customer service in healthcare
* Developing teams and delivering outcomes through others
* Working with professionals including senior clinicians
* Experience in primary care setting


Other

* Champion of equality and diversity
* Adherence to Confidentiality and Data Protection laws


Knowledge

* Project management stages and tracking methods
* Microsoft Office and NHS clinical systems
* Service development, primary care IT, strategic planning, and contracting knowledge

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post requires a DBS check due to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.

Salary: £58,470.14 to £68,507.09 per annum, depending on experience.
