You will join an experienced, well-supported team working to make a real difference to people, helping us maintain our excellent reputation within Surrey.
You will provide Person‑Centred Experiential Counselling interventions for Depression to a wide range of clients.
The role will be on‑site, with a minimum of 2 days a week working from our dedicated hub in central Dorking, with financial incentives for additional days on‑site. You will have the opportunity to have a mix of virtual and on‑site work, including face‑to‑face, video/telephone, workshops and courses across your week.
High‑level clinical supervision, case management and CPD opportunities are provided, including PCE‑CfD supervision training and other high‑intensity modalities as needed.
Main duties of the job
Please note: The salary offered is applicable to applicants who have received the PCE‑CfD practitioner qualification. If you are currently working towards this qualification, the salary offered will be from £38,682.
For this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
 * Full accreditation with BACP, NCS, UKCP, BPS, AOC and/or BPS
 * PCE‑CfD practitioner qualification or eligibility to work towards this qualification
 * Experience of completing assessments and high‑intensity counselling with people who have experienced mental health difficulties, preferably in primary care
 * An ability to be self‑reflective, whilst working with service users, in personal and professional development and in supervision
 * If hybrid working is desired, access to a suitable and safe working environment is required to work from home part of the week
 * Skills to manage your own workload under pressure and meet agreed targets
 * Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and develop a good rapport with clients and colleagues
 * Ability to work within a team and foster good working relationships
 * A positive can‑do attitude and the commitment to support the mental health and well‑being of Surrey residents
 * Sufficient IT skills for electronic record keeping and virtual working (if desired)
Duties and Responsibilities of the Post
 1. CLINICAL
 o Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service
 o Assess clients for suitability for psychological interventions
 o Make decisions on the suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department’s referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients where appropriate
 o Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients
 o Use highly developed communication skills to understand personal and sensitive difficulties
 o Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessment and treatment of clients in line with the service
 o Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary
 o Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered and clinical sessions carried out per week to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient
 o Attend multidisciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate
 o Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service
 o Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols
 o Work closely with other members of the team, ensuring appropriate step‑up and step‑down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped‑care approach
 o Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the therapy process
 o Carry out clinical audits of service performance, including service user surveys and evaluations, and collate and disseminate the results for feedback
 o Liaise with other health and social care staff from a range of agencies in the care provided to clients
 o Provide specialist advice and consultation to other professionals/influential groups across Mental Health Trusts, Primary Care Trusts and other voluntary agencies regarding service matters related to the practice and delivery of specific agreed therapeutic modalities and service provision
 2. TRAINING AND SUPERVISION
 o Contribute to the teaching and training of mental health professionals and other staff working in the service
 o After completion of supervision training, supervise staff in the service as appropriate
 3. PROFESSIONAL
 o Maintain standards of practice according to employer and professional bodies (BACP, UKCP, etc.) and keep up to date on new recommendations and guidelines set by the Department of Health
 o Ensure client confidentiality is always protected
 o Provide a professional and neutral environment when delivering video appointments
 o Keep up to date with advances in counselling and other psychological therapies
 o Review professional objectives with senior therapists regularly as part of continuing professional development (CPD)
 o Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis
 o Participate in individual performance reviews and respond to objectives
 o Maintain CPD records and ensure the personal development plan stays current with specialist knowledge
 o Attend relevant conferences and workshops aligned with professional objectives
 o Identify and implement service improvement initiatives
 4. ADVISORY / LIAISON
 o Maintain links with Primary Care and Secondary Care staff to coordinate effective Psychological Therapies Service provision
 5. GENERAL
 o Contribute to the development of best practice within the service
 o Maintain knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and procedures in mental health and primary care services
 o Uphold health and safety responsibilities for self and colleagues, patients and the public
 o Ensure information processing is accurate, confidential and secure in line with Data Protection Act and security policies
 o Maintain professionalism and avoid misuse of official position for personal gain
 o Support overall service development through periodic review of responsibilities
 6. INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITIES
 o Apply and adhere to agreed policies, procedures and protocols, including national initiatives, and propose changes for improvement
 o Participate in reflection, self‑evaluation and continuous professional development, including performance review
 o Contribute to ongoing projects as required
 o Maintain safe working practices and environment in accordance with local health and safety policies
 o Comply with Caldicott, Data Protection Act and Access to Health Records Act legislation regarding confidential data
Qualifications and Experience
 * Demonstrable experience of working in mental health services
 * Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets
 * Ability to manage own caseload and time
 * High standards in written communication
 * Able to write clear reports and letters to referrers
 * Experience with routine outcome monitoring
