1 year contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• An experienced Health Economist is required for a 12-month temporary assignment to lead the economic evaluation of public health and prevention-based interventions.
• The role involves conducting cost-benefit analyses and producing actionable insights to support data-driven public health decision-making.
• This is a high-impact role suited to a proactive and analytically strong professional with a background in applied policy analysis and a commitment to health equity.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Lead economic evaluations, including cost-benefit and cost-effectiveness analyses of health and social interventions
• Quantify and monetise outcomes using standard economic techniques
• Collect, clean and analyse data on health, demographics, service use, and social outcomes
• Develop logic models and impact pathways to support causal attribution
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to align methodologies and findings
• Produce concise, evidence-based reports and presentations for internal and external audiences
• Translate complex economic insights into accessible information for stakeholder engagement
Skills/Experience:
• Demonstrated experience conducting cost-benefit analyses within health or social policy settings
• Strong quantitative analysis, data modelling, and statistical skills
• Ability to communicate complex economic concepts to non-specialist audiences
• Knowledge of public health valuation metrics such as QALY
• Experience working within or alongside local authorities, NHS, or public health bodies
• Familiarity with equity weighting and social impact assessment methodologies
