Job Title: Care Home Chef Location: Lancaster Hours: Full time - 5 days out of 7 (including alternate weekends) Start Date: Immediate start available Job Purpose To plan, prepare and deliver nutritious, high‑quality meals for residents in a 67‑bed residential care home, ensuring all meals meet individual dietary requirements, preferences and relevant health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook fresh, appetising meals for up to 67 residents, including breakfast, lunch and evening meals Plan menus that are nutritionally balanced, seasonal and compliant with care home standards Cater for special dietary needs (e.g. diabetes, allergies, vegetarian, puréed/soft diets) Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety in line with HACCP and Food Safety regulations Manage stock control, ordering and storage of food supplies to minimise waste Work collaboratively with care, nursing and management teams to ensure residents' needs are met Maintain accurate food records and support inspections by regulatory bodies Supervise and support kitchen assistants where applicable Skills and Experience Required Proven experience as a chef or cook, ideally within a care home, healthcare or similar setting Knowledge of special diets and nutrition for older people Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum - Level 3 desirable) Ability to work calmly and effectively in a ...
