We are recruiting a Community Connector for Basildon, Castlepoint, Rochford, and Maldon Libraries. Note: this role includes Saturday work. It is a fixed-term contract until March 2026.
The role requires mobility across the operational area.
The Opportunity
This role supports outreach partnerships and activities within the library service, working with frontline and Service Development teams. It involves shaping services, building partnerships, and engaging with the community to promote library services and literacy across Essex.
Community Connectors will deliver targeted activities at community events, collaborate with ECC functions and local partners, and promote literacy, reading, learning, and digital offers to increase engagement and user base.
The role acts as a bridge between the service and the community, promoting library services through events and activities to encourage participation across all ages.
Engagement with library staff, community groups, and partners is essential to deliver key objectives.
Accountabilities
* Develop and promote events supporting outreach and library services, encouraging membership.
* Support delivery of library activities by developing partnerships and reaching non-users.
* Collaborate with partners to promote literacy, reading, learning, and digital services, aligning with Essex County Council’s goals.
* Develop new partnerships to reach target audiences and deliver engaging events.
* Create impactful outreach opportunities with lasting community benefits.
* Use evidence-based methods to monitor and evaluate outreach programs, demonstrating value.
* Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support service delivery.
The Experience You Will Bring
* ECDL Advanced (Level 3) or equivalent qualification, or relevant experience.
* Effective communication skills with diverse audiences and partners.
* Experience working with community groups, customers, and volunteers.
* Strong coordination skills and project delivery experience.
* Experience in outreach, events, and developing new services, especially with youth and families.
* Ability to prioritize and work independently or as part of a team.
Additional Requirements
Must have a driving license and access to a vehicle or alternative mobility means.
