Rate of Pay : £28.48 - £38 .00 per hour Summary: This is a key operational role for a passionate and relationship-based Social Worker to make a substantial difference to children and families in Somerset. The role involves managing complex caseloads within Somerset's Family Safeguarding Model, working collaboratively with adult-focused practitioners (substance misuse, domestic abuse, mental health). The successful candidate will work with children subject to Child In Need and Child Protection Plans, in pre-proceedings, and in legal proceedings. You will be supported by permanent Team Managers and encouraged to use innovative and creative direct work to ensure the child's voice and experience are central to all plans. Responsibilities: Manage a manageable and complex caseload involving children subject to Child In Need and Child Protection Plans. Undertake work within pre-proceedings and full legal proceedings to secure permanence for children. Operate within the established Family Safeguarding model, collaborating closely with specialist adult-focused practitioners in areas such as substance misuse, domestic abuse, and mental health to inform assessments and plans Work with parents and the wider family network, accessing services like Family Group Conferencing, to identify strengths, address problems, and support changes in interactions and behaviours. Use provided up-to-date technology for effective communication and staying connected with the team and manager. Essentials: A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, CQSW, DipSW). Must be a qualified social worker and hold current, valid registration with Social Work England (SWE) Substantial experience working with children and families in a statutory Social Work setting.
