Leading Naval Architect role at ABL (Longitude Engineering) – delivering independent design & engineering services in marine, offshore renewables, oil & gas, defence and offshore infrastructure across Asia Pacific, Europe and North America.

Role Overview
As Lead Naval Architect you will conduct hydrodynamic analyses and simulate marine operations, evaluating floating structures and performing studies related to stability, vessel motion, mooring systems, dynamic lift and cable installation. You’ll provide technical leadership to the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead engineering work such as the analyses of floating structures across all Longitude business sectors, including stability, vessel motions, mooring systems, dynamic lift, and cable installation.
* Manage assigned projects in terms of safety, quality, schedule and resources.
* Undertake or lead project planning, invoicing and cash collection activities.
* Communicate directly with customers, their engineering teams and end clients to ensure project demands are met.
* Perform day‑to‑day client management activities with existing clients through established relationships.
* Support business development activities to promote Longitude and develop new clients.
* Support and undertake proposal and tendering activities for new business.
* Support the discipline head to identify personal and team training requirements to develop technical competence in line with Longitude’s needs.
* Develop existing and new technical competencies in alignment with Longitude’s needs.
* Undertake technical consultancy work as required.
* Supervise junior engineers and Naval Architects.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Minimum 10 years of experience in the marine and/or offshore energy industry.
* Proven experience using Orcaflex or other hydrodynamic software.
* Demonstrated expertise in leading and overseeing engineering teams conducting hydrodynamic analysis.
* Experience with cable installation, dynamic lift, motions or mooring analysis.
* Ability to apply the latest standards, guidelines, methods and techniques to analytical methods.
Additional Information
This position can be based at our offices in London, Southampton, Exeter, Newcastle, Glasgow or Aberdeen and offers hybrid working. You must have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom.
Flexibility and willingness to travel, as well as readiness for onshore/offshore assignments at short notice locally and globally for periods, will be required.
