Base pay range

We are seeking an enthusiastic and well organised individual to fulfil a vital function within our busy Home Options team which deals with the council’s housing register and the allocation of social housing in Norwich.

This is a temporary, part-time role to cover maternity within the team for two days a week.

Job Description

The focus of the job is to manage applications to the council's housing register, known as Home Options, and provide realistic advice to clients applying to the scheme. The applicant should be able to demonstrate not only excellent customer service skills but also the ability to deal with a sometimes challenging client group in what can be a pressurised environment.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

* Dealing effectively with enquiries from clients in housing need, generally by telephone but occasionally in person.
* Assessing and processing applications to join the council's Home Options scheme, carrying out relevant enquiries and applying policy in order to determine an applicant's priority.
* Carrying out the checks required to ensure the fair allocation of social housing in Norwich in accordance with Home Options policy.

Skills Required

This is a busy, fast moving role and the post-holder should be able to demonstrate a positive and flexible approach, the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure. Strong communication skills and the ability to deal confidently with a diverse client base will be required.

The successful applicant must have the ability to plan ahead, organise work to meet deadlines and be able to manage their own workload, which will involve complex investigation, detailed casework and occasional home visits.

See attached job description and person specification for details. For more information about this post please contact Julie Selby on 01603 989563.
