We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Electrician to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account at HMP Nottingham. This role is based on-site.
There will be a need to work 1 in 3 weekends, on a rota basis, with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary, and a call-out rota paid as required.
At Amey, we support our justice client, Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), by providing safe, clean, and efficient prisons. Our facilities management expertise helps keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.
The Electrician plays an important role in ensuring planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out safely, compliantly, and promptly.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, across 7 days where a weekend shift pattern is in place.
You will be responsible for:
* Planned and preventative electrical maintenance.
* Diagnosing and replacing failed domestic electrical components.
* Responding to breakdowns, ensuring all works are carried out under the appropriate Safe System of Work and in a timely manner.
* Fault finding and problem solving on domestic electrical systems across the prison.
* Undertaking electrical installation activities in accordance with provided designs and IET Wiring Regulations.
* Testing and inspecting electrical installations per current IEE wiring regulations.
* Monitoring and ordering critical spares for all electrical services.
* Other tasks as required by the site.
* This role will also support local and business zero carbon programs, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as appropriate.
* Ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
What makes this role unique is testing and inspecting electrical installations across prison facilities in accordance with the 18th Edition IEE wiring regulations. Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
We want to hear from you if you have/are:
* JIB ECS Gold Card graded as Installation or Maintenance Electrician OR AM2 with NVQ Level 3 or above.
* BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition.
* Experience in electrical maintenance, general distribution, installation, and testing.
* Knowledge of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
* Capable of working at heights.
* Ability to work independently and use initiative.
Ideally, you will be qualified in the 18th Edition (we can sponsor you to upgrade if you currently have only the 17th Edition; terms apply) with experience in electrical maintenance within a commercial environment.
Additional desirable skills include IT skills, fire alarm systems, and CCTV systems, although training will be provided if needed.
