Deputy Ward Manager

An excellent opportunity for a fixed term secondment for maternity cover for 12 months. Are you looking to develop your skills in nurse leadership and management? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join Ward 32 as a Deputy Ward Manager.
Ward 32 is a 33‑bedbeded medical ward, specialising in the care of cardiology, neurology and endocrine patients.
We are seeking applications from highly motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic individuals who have excellent communication skills. This role will give you the opportunity to develop your clinical, leadership and management skills, enabling you to meet your personal and professional objectives.
As a Deputy Ward Manager you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining high standards of patient care delivery. You will act as a role model promoting quality evidence‑based practice, develop the nursing team and ensure effective management of the department in the absence of the Ward Manager. The successful candidate will need at least two years post‑registration experience and will work in partnership with the Ward Manager.
Main duties of the job
* Deliver a high standard of care, always striving to improve through change and innovation.
* Able to prioritise own workload and that of others.
* Ensure hospital cleanliness standards are maintained and always met.
* Experience in conflict management and resolution.
* Act as a senior member of the nursing team, deputising for the Ward Manager in their absence.
* Demonstrate exemplary clinical skills and capabilities.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Level 1) recognised teaching/assessing qualification.
Training
* Evidence of continued professional development and implementation in clinical practice within the last 12 months.
* Understanding of training needs in relation to the post.
Special Knowledge
* Insight into clinical speciality.
* Insight into current issues in nursing and professional issues.
* Understanding of standards of professional practice.
