Leader Education are recruiting for a SEND and Behaviour Support Assistant to work at a Specialist SEND school based near Bedlington. This school caters for children aged 2 to 19 years old with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Social Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) this role will involve working 1:1 with children or in small groups. The ideal Classroom Support Assistant will have some experience working with SEND children, strong transferable skills and a genuine interest and passion for education.
The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30pm and is a long-term position given a successful trial.
The successful candidate will have:
* An enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* The ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
* A compassionate, understanding personality that values inclusivity and respect
* Some experience supporting students with SEND in an education setting is desirable
* An understanding of the safeguarding and ensuring the well-being of children
* A good understanding of children who have SLD
