Why Apply?
We're looking for an experienced Control Panel Technician who takes real pride in their work, someone who's spent years at the bench and recognises quality panel building.
This is a rare opportunity to join a well-established workshop where your experience is genuinely valued, not just ticked off a list. You'll have your own bench, a stable team around you, and the satisfaction of building panels to a standard you can be proud of. No sites, no vans, no rushing, just skilled, respected craft work with an early finish every Friday.
Based in the established workshop in Braintree, this is a hands-on role where your experience will be genuinely valued. No chasing the next site, no working at height, just solid, skilled panel building in a well-organised workshop environment.
The Role
You'll be building and wiring LV control and distribution panels from engineering drawings, bringing the same high standards to every job whether it's a straightforward sub-assembly or a complex multi-panel build.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, GA drawings, and BOMs
Assemble and wire LV distribution and control panels to a high standard
Cut, strip, crimp, label, and terminate cables with care and precision
Install components including trunking, busbars, circuit breakers, contactors, relays, meters, and terminals
Carry out continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing
Spot drawing discrepancies and flag issues early - your experience matters here
Keep your workspace clean, safe, and organised
About You
You've been doing this a while. You might have come up through an apprenticeship, spent years on the tools, and built up a solid understanding of how a panel should look and perform. Specifically, you'll have:
Solid hands-on experience as a Panel Wirer, Control Panel Technician, Electrical Fitter, or similar
Strong working knowledge of LV panels up to 400VAC
The ability to read drawings confidently without needing your hand held
An eye for detail and a genuine commitment to doing the job right
NVQ Level 2/3 in Electrical Engineering or a time-served equivalent
Familiarity with BS EN 61439, BS 7671, and switchgear up to 630A is a bonus
What's On Offer
Early finish every Friday
Stable, workshop-based role - no sites, no vans
Free on-site parking
Lunch contribution scheme
Free hot drinks, and fruit
A team that respects experience and knows what good quality of work means
If you're a skilled control panel technician who wants a settled role where the quality of your work is recognised, apply with your CV today.
