This vacancy is paid at the rate of £29,475 per annum with a £8,538 contribution to the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. You will also be eligible for 25 days holiday, with an increase of one day for every year of qualifying service up to a maximum of 30 days. About Us
Individuals Policy Directorate (IPD) brings together all the policy and technical aspects of taxes and benefits that impact individual customers. We advise Ministers, maintain existing policies, design and deliver new policy, and manage NICs regime including pensions, charities, and savings. The IPD team consists of around 400 people and works closely with HM Treasury.
Job Description
In this role you will support the Director of IPD as part of their private office. You will manage diary and inbox, coordinate travel, handle routine HR tasks, record keeping, budget management and provide ad‑hoc support. You will work closely with senior officials in HMRC and HM Treasury and support the Director’s decision‑making and policy work.
Responsibilities
 * Diary management: organise meetings, identify appropriate deputies, proactive forward planning, ensure effective use of the Director’s time.
 * Inbox management: triage and flag incoming mail; ensure papers are filed and available for meetings.
 * Routine HR tasks on behalf of the Director, travel arrangements and expense processing.
 * Day‑to‑day business support, record keeping and budget management.
 * Ad‑hoc support tasks and cover for the Assistant Private Secretary as required.
Person Specification
 * Strong organisational skills and sound judgement.
 * Ability to build an understanding of the Director’s priorities.
 * Proactive, with strong planning, coordination and prioritisation abilities.
 * Flexibility to work at pace in an ambiguous, changing environment.
 * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build good working relationships.
 * HR experience and knowledge of diary and inbox management preferred.
