Overview
We’re looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to play a key role in the design, development, and integration of control systems across a variety of industries and clients.
In this role, you’ll lead the technical direction of projects, provide expert solutions to complex challenges, and guide the successful delivery of control system solutions. You’ll also take on mentorship responsibilities, supporting and developing junior engineers, while working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality outcomes. This position requires strong technical expertise in control systems and software, alongside a strategic and solutions-focused mindset.

Responsibilities
* Develop complex system architectures, designs, and detailed specifications to meet client requirements.
* Integrate subsystems and components to form a cohesive system, ensuring overall system compatibility and performance.
* Develop and execute system testing and validation routines to verify that systems meet design specifications and performance criteria.
* Prepare, maintain and review comprehensive technical documentation, including requirements, design specifications, test plans, operator manuals and quality documentation.
* Analyse and translate client requirements into functional and non-functional specifications independently or as part of a larger team.
* Drive technical discussions with project teams and identify and resolve technical issues.
* Support and lead commissioning at client sites.
* Select suitable components and specify procurement activities as required.
* Be actively involved in the testing and troubleshooting of bespoke systems.
* Encourage and champion changes and improvements as opportunities arise.
* Engage in continuous learning to develop technical skills and knowledge relevant to system integration.
* Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
* Communicate with clients to understand their needs and manage expectations to ensure satisfaction with the delivered system.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, workshop and project management, to ensure successful project delivery.
* Follow all health and safety regulations, procedures and protocols.
* Accountable for delivering their project scope to company quality management system and to company processes and procedures.
* Have base knowledge of client-specific standards and international standards.
* Be capable of conducting quality and technical reviews on peers.
* Identify and complete relevant training, both in-house and external, as required.
* Assist with any other duties reasonably requested and in line with the requirements of the role.
Requirements
We are looking for:
Experience and Knowledge
* A minimum of 5 years’ experience in systems engineering.
* In-depth knowledge of software packages relevant to the role of a Senior Systems Engineer (e.g., SCADA, PLC, HMI).
* Experience in the application of systems engineering principles and methodologies.
* Familiarity with system integration processes, tools and technologies.
* Understanding of industry and company quality management systems, processes and procedures.
* Experience of software development/hardware integration.
* Experience working on client sites.
Skills and Abilities
* Good verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and client interaction.
