We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), which is part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.
Responsibilities
* Lead the ECU as the strategic lead for managing financial investigations and ensuring compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Provide strong leadership to two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer; manage performance and work delivery.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC) to influence senior stakeholders and support EA priorities.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of how we work and increase understanding of POCA; share lessons learnt and advise other enforcement officers.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes and technical documentation related to POCA.
* Be prepared to travel across the country for meetings and operational duties; incident response may be required and could attract additional payment.
Team and Environment
The ECU is composed of two teams – Asset Denial and Money Laundering Investigations – with Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts. The unit is nationally dispersed and tackles serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
Experience/Skills Required
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience in leading a dispersed team; good understanding of financial investigations and POCA.
* Experience in law enforcement and understanding of the National Intelligence Model.
* Effective communication: delivering feedback, managing performance and building relationships with external stakeholders.
* Ability to work under pressure and prioritise a varied workload.
* Ability to identify areas for improvement and lead changes to working practices; develop and enhance team capabilities.
Other Information
* This is a hybrid role; you’ll work from home and your nearest office with travel across the country for meetings and duties.
