Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity to join the Estates, Facilities and Capital Development (EFCD) Team at UHS.

This role is primarily based on site at UHS and is integral to ensuring that estates compliance is effectively monitored, managed and reported, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of services across the Trust.

The overall purpose of the post is to work independently within scope of practice as part of the EFCD Compliance Team, providing specialist advice and guidance on estates statutory and mandatory compliance. You’ll play a key role in monitoring compliance frameworks such as SCART and the NHS Premises Assurance Model (PAM), coordinating risk governance processes, and supporting the delivery of safe, compliant estates services. Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

You’ll work closely with colleagues across estates and wider Trust teams, including senior managers and safety groups, to ensure compliance is understood, tracked and continuously improved.

You’ll need to have strong organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively. You’ll be confident working with complex information, including legislation, policies and technical guidance, and able to communicate this clearly to a range of audiences.

You’ll bring experience of estates or building services compliance, ideally within a healthcare environment, along with a good understanding of relevant UK legislation, regulations and guidance such as Health Technical Memorandums. A relevant degree (or equivalent experience) is essential, and a qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH would be beneficial.

You’ll be comfortable working autonomously, while also contributing as part of a collaborative team, and you’ll be confident in influencing others and supporting continuous improvement in compliance and risk management practices.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience


Essential criteria

* Degree (or level 6) qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
* Postgraduate qualification in a relevant course or relevant equivalent level of knowledge and experience in Compliance or Operational, having an understanding in at least one of the three main areas that Compliance oversees e.g. Estates, Facilities, Capital Development.
* IOSH Managing Safety or equivalent
* Experience in being part of governance frameworks.
* Understanding of Health Technical Memorandums and UK standards, codes of practise, building regulations and all current relevant UK statutory legislation.
* Evidence of relevant continued development (CPD)
* Strong planning and organisation skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands and work within the bigger picture
* Able to provide and receive highly complex information in the form of policies, procedures, contracts, statistical data, space related information and drawings
* Able to research and develop new systems and methods of work, and positively manage change required to achieve improvement
* Able to analyse and compare a range of options and appropriately advise technical and non-technical staff


Desirable criteria

* Healthcare building services compliance in NHS / healthcare setting
* NEBOSH General Certificate
