Job Title: Plumber (Temporary)
Location: HMP Buckley Hall, Rochdale, Greater Manchester
Pay Rate: £13.72 – £16.57 per hour (depending on experience and shift pattern)
Contract Type: Temporary, Full-Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Job Summary:
Berry Recruitment is currently recruiting for a qualified and experienced Plumber to join the estates and maintenance team at HMP Buckley Hall on a temporary, full-time basis.
Working within a secure custodial environment, you’ll be responsible for carrying out a wide range of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation work across both occupied and void areas of the prison estate. This is a rewarding opportunity to apply your trade skills in a structured and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Routine and non-routine maintenance
Fault finding
Identification of life expired equipment
Check, repair and make good faults and life expired equipment
Inspections, water sampling and risk assessments
Mains water supply repairs
Ensure all works are carried out to the highest safety standards and to agreed method statements
Minimise wastage and continually improve processes
Ensure statutory works are carried out to time and that work is compliant
Essential Requirements:
NVQ Level 2 or higher in Plumbing (or equivalent recognised qualification).
Demonstrable experience in plumbing maintenance, fault-finding, and installation.
Knowledge of health and safety and safe systems of work in plumbing-related tasks.
Ability to work independently or within a multi-skilled team.
Must be able to pass enhanced security clearance for work in a custodial setting.
Desirable:
Previous experience working in a prison, hospital, or other secure/public sector environment.
Basic IT literacy for job logging and reporting purposes.
