EAP Pre-sessional Lecturer

Salary: £55,000
Contract: Full‑Time, Permanent (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities
* Designing and documenting bespoke courses, digital resources, workshop plans and individual schemes of work to develop study skills within the curricula.
* Delivering, evaluating, and identifying areas for potential improvement to enhance teaching quality and overall student experience in accordance with GBS’s Learning and Teaching strategy.
* Providing feedback on individual and class progress in academic writing and other relevant study skills.
* Offering tutorial consultations with students, giving constructive comments tailored to each student’s needs, explaining assessment criteria gaps, and suggesting improvements.
* Recording details from appointments for statistical, evaluation, and quality purposes, and directing students to other services as appropriate.
* Engaging with VLE and research resources and facilitating students’ learning via online resources and activities.
* Contributing to GBS quality assurance systems and processes.
Qualifications
* Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable).
* Previous UK HE lecturing experience in the relevant subject area.
* Successful track record of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds on HE programmes.
* Proven experience of providing individual and group study skills support in response to identified learning needs.
* Willingness to lead a specific area of literacy development such as reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills (quantitative or qualitative), project/dissertation support, or peer‑assisted learning.
* High level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills.
Desirable
* Expertise in digital educational resources development, course design, and curriculum development.
* DELTA qualification.
* A Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years), or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent).
