We have an exciting opportunity to join our Programme Management discipline within our Advisory Services team, supporting major programmes across the UK energy sector. The role can be based in London, Edinburgh, or Glasgow, with travel expected.
As a Consultant, you’ll work on some of the UK’s most complex and high‑profile capital investment programmes, supporting clients to strengthen programme governance, controls, planning, and delivery capability. You’ll collaborate closely with senior programme leaders across multiple disciplines, playing a key role in turning strategic investment into successful outcomes.
Our Programme Management Group has a strong track record of delivering transformational consultancy services across the Energy, Water, and Transport sectors. Due to continued growth with major utility providers and infrastructure developers, we’re expanding our team and investing in the next generation of programme management professionals.
About the Role
As a Consultant within the Programme Management team, you’ll support the set-up, assurance, and delivery of complex capital programmes. Depending on your experience, you’ll contribute to or lead programme workstreams and help clients build the capability required to deliver large-scale investment programmes.
Your responsibilities may include:
1. Supporting or leading programme workstreams to deliver complex capital programmes
2. Developing and embedding programme governance, controls, and reporting frameworks
3. Supporting programme planning, scheduling, and progress reporting across milestones and tranches
4. Assisting programme leadership with risk, issue, dependency, and change control
5. Contributing to PMO set-up and maturity improvements
6. Supporting stakeholder reporting, assurance activities, and management information for senior sponsors
You’ll be part of a collaborative programme management team working across key frameworks and initiatives that enable clients to successfully deliver major investment programmes.
Your Impact
In this role, you’ll make a tangible impact by helping clients:
7. Establish strong foundations during programme initiation, including business case development and investment justification
8. Translate strategy into clear, executable programme roadmaps and delivery plans
9. Implement effective programme governance, controls, and reporting frameworks
10. Integrate technical outputs from design and engineering teams into programme controls and governance
11. Improve programme capability, confidence, and delivery outcomes across major infrastructure investments
You’ll work within our wider Advisory service line, collaborating across programme management and PMO services, engineering, sustainability consulting, and technology systems. As part of Stantec’s programme management discipline, you’ll have the opportunity to shape your career path and develop across service lines, supported by structured training and strong professional networks.

We’d love to hear from candidates with experience in a consultancy environment, though this isn’t essential. You’ll have a minimum of an Honours degree, with a wide range of degree disciplines considered, including (but not limited to): Project Management, Business Management, Maths, Science, Technology, or Engineering.
You will be:
12. Inquisitive, analytical, and creative, with a drive to improve processes and efficiency
13. Confident in managing stakeholder communications and presenting insights clearly
14. Skilled in data analysis, presentation, and the Microsoft Office suite
15. Detail‑focused, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment

You’re motivated to build a career in the programme management environment, and we’ll support your professional development, including membership of relevant professional bodies (such as APM, MSP, or P3O).
