IMH Recruitment is seeking an experienced Housing Regulatory Assurance Officer to join our client’s new Housing Strategy and Performance Team. This is an exciting opportunity to help drive quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across the Council’s Housing Directorate for our client in Oxford, OX1.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and coordinate housing regulatory compliance and service improvement activities.
* Represent the housing service internally and with external partners; deputise for managers as needed.
* Develop and implement innovative approaches to improve services, set objectives, and monitor performance.
* Provide expert advice and support to the wider housing team to ensure compliance with legislation and improve resident experience.
* Set standards and procedures, identify and resolve issues, and hold teams accountable for results.
* Prepare reports, presentations, and evidence-based recommendations for internal and external audiences.
* Maintain specialist knowledge of housing law, regulation, and best practice across homelessness, housing management, repairs, and development.
* Operate effectively in a fast-changing environment, manage risks, and engage directly with residents on estates.
* Undertake safeguarding duties and support council initiatives, including meetings outside normal office hours.
Essential Criteria:
* Expert knowledge of Social Housing (Regulation) Act, Consumer Standards, Homelessness Reduction Act 2002, and related housing legislation.
* Degree or equivalent qualification in housing or a related field.
* Significant experience in social housing or project management.
* Proven experience in service design, continuous improvement, and performance management.
* Experience preparing policies, procedures, reports, and presentations for varied audiences.
* Strong data analysis skills and knowledge of key performance indicators.
* Excellent investigative, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.
* Ability to prioritise, delegate, and organise resources effectively.
* Experience managing budgets.
* Mobility to travel and visit residents across the city.
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience with the Regulator of Social Housing’s inspection regime.
* Professional qualification in housing or working towards one.
Hours & Pay:
* Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm or 9am–5pm (to be confirmed by the hiring manager at interview)
* £23.84 per hour.
* 3–6 months (with potential to convert to permanent.
* (Hybrid – 2 days in the office)
