About the Role:
As a Desktop Support Engineer, you will provide first and second line support for IT in the respective project offices. This includes supporting laptops/desktops, printers, AV and meeting room equipment, MS Office and business applications, and delivering images and upgrades. While primarily supporting Windows, a broad understanding of other IT technologies such as network and server infrastructure is required to troubleshoot complex problems and undertake routine maintenance activities supported by 3rd line support.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Work with the business to understand and interpret their needs. Proactively identify areas of opportunity and offer advice/training to ensure maximum utilization of approved IT technologies.
2. Provide support for software and engineering applications including installation, licensing, troubleshooting, etc., in regular communication with application support experts.
3. Collaborate with the central infrastructure, network, desktop, and technical support teams globally to ensure compliance with support processes and technical guidelines (e.g., hardware specifications, backup procedures, virus control, PC build, software installation and licensing, security administration). Maintain regular contact with the global IT team.
4. Monitor servers, network, and backup infrastructure, and report to the central/vendor team for alerts or failures.
5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of the IT infrastructure, including inventory of PCs, printers, network devices, servers, accessories, and third-party contractual documentation.
6. Support administration and maintenance of productivity tools such as SharePoint and Office 365, promoting their full use.
7. Administer communication technologies, including wireless LAN, mobile devices, and follow-me printing.
8. Maintain professional relationships with key third-party suppliers.
Knowledge & Qualifications:
* Effective communication skills with business customers and IT colleagues at all levels.
* Broad knowledge of office IT infrastructure and communications, including hardware, software, and networking technologies.
* Experience supporting a wide range of IT technologies in a similar-sized organization.
* Experience working with ticketing systems, escalating issues, managing multiple IT issues, and resolving them efficiently.
