Control & Governance Analyst – Markets Belfast (Hybrid) | Approx. £448pd (Evq. £116,000) Key Responsibilities Develop a thorough understanding of a newly implemented semi-automated control process. Review and investigate exceptions and transactions that are not evaluated by the control. Categorize these exceptions to identify opportunities for control enhancement. Create comprehensive desktop procedures to support the transition of the control process to the BAU (Business As Usual) team. Escalate thematic issues and data quality concerns to the control owner, highlighting opportunities to improve control effectiveness and reduce false positives. Continuously refine desktop procedures based on insights gained from operating the control. Draft business requirements for system enhancements, working closely with technology teams to implement, test, and deliver improvements. Present findings and control disposition outcomes to the control lead in a clear and actionable format. Support the preparation of governance metrics, reports, and presentation decks. Knowledge, Experience & Skills Proven ability to engage with key stakeholders across functions including front office (e.g., Traders, Trading Supervisors, Business Managers), Middle Office, Operations, Technology, and Risk & Control. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (including pivot tables, lookups) and PowerPoint. Capable of independently writing SQL queries to extract, analyse, and interpret large data sets. Strong analytical mindset with a track record of using data to drive decision-making and deliver process improvements. Experience in managing or supporting regulatory change initiatives across Markets, such as Dodd-Frank, EMIR, MiFID II/R, UMR, Reg W, or Reg K. Prior experience operating 1LOD (First Line of Defence) controls with a focus on timely exception handling and investigative review. Skills and Competencies Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across business, support, and control teams. Skilled in data analysis using Excel and SQL. Demonstrated ability to design and implement operational processes, with strong documentation and procedural development skills.
