SEN Pastoral Support Assistant – Primary SEN School (Salford)

Teaching Personnel are excited to be recruiting a SEN Pastoral Support Assistant to join a warm, welcoming Primary SEN school in Salford, supporting pupils with moderate learning needs such as Autism, Anxiety, Speech and Language difficulties and Moderate learning difficulties. This is a rewarding full-time role where you will help create a safe, positive, and supportive environment that enables children to feel valued, understood, and ready to learn.

Key Responsibilities
As a SEN Pastoral Support Assistant, you will:
* Provide daily emotional and pastoral support, helping pupils regulate emotions, develop coping strategies, and build resilience.
* Support children during transitions and unstructured times (arrivals, breaks, lunchtimes), ensuring they feel calm, safe, and ready for learning.
* Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging within the school community.
* Assist the behaviour and SEN teams by implementing individual support plans, behaviour plans, and pastoral interventions.
* Work closely with families and staff to share observations, highlight concerns, and celebrate student achievements, contributing to a coordinated support approach.
* Create a nurturing, inclusive environment where pupils feel heard, respected, and supported, modelling positive interactions and emotional language.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
* Experience supporting children or young people (school, youth work, care, SEN, pastoral, or similar).
* A warm, patient, and empathetic approach with a genuine passion for helping children succeed.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
* The ability to remain calm, consistent, and reassuring during challenging behaviour or emotional dysregulation.
* Willingness to assist with personal care when required.
* A valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
