Vocational Rehabilitation Worker – Heatherwood Court Hospital
Location: PontypriddSalary: Band 4 AFCCloses: 26/06/2026Hours: 37.5As a Vocational Employment Support Officer, you will work directly with patients to explore their strengths, aspirations and vocational goals. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team including occupational therapists, psychologists, nurses and social workers, supporting patients to access education, volunteering, training and employment opportunities as part of their recovery and discharge planning.
Key Responsibilities
Vocational assessments — Identify work history, skills, interests and aspirations.Person‑centred planning — Develop tailored vocational support plans with patients and the MDT.Access to opportunities — Support engagement in training, education, volunteering and employment pathways.Practical employability support — Assist with CVs, applications, interviews, confidence building and work-readiness.Recovery-focused engagement — Encourage meaningful occupation and structured daily routines.Community partnership working — Build and maintain links with employers, colleges and voluntary organisations.Group and individual sessions — Deliver sessions on motivation, budgeting, time management and workplace expectations.Record keeping — Maintain accurate documentation of interventions and outcomes.Safeguarding and inclusion — Uphold confidentiality, dignity and equality.Discharge planning — Support smooth transitions into community-based services.To be considered for this role you will have:
Experience supporting vulnerable groups (mental health, learning disabilities, autism or similar)One‑to‑one coaching or vocational guidance experienceUnderstanding of recovery-focused practiceKnowledge of employment barriers and strategies to overcome themStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and within an MDTGood organisational and IT skillsUnderstanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and riskRelevant qualification in health, social care, psychology, OT support, employment support, counselling, education or similarFull UK driving licence and willingness to drive a company vehicle Essential requirementDesirable Criteria
Experience in inpatient mental health or rehabilitationKnowledge of IPS or supported employment modelsExperience engaging employers or community agenciesAwareness of welfare benefits and vocational pathwaysTraining in mental health, safeguarding, motivational interviewing or recovery-oriented practice
