The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) is a vibrant charity delivering nautical adventures to young people through Sea Cadets, aiming to give them a strong start in life. We also support seafarers' personal and professional development. Working with staff, cadets, and volunteers, we have a clear vision and strategy to expand our impact and support our community.
We are seeking an OTW Project Assistant to support the delivery of the On The Water project at our Birmingham boating station. This role involves engaging with young people aged 9-14, providing water-based activities, and supporting project administration. It requires a self-motivated, organized, and enthusiastic individual with a passion for youth development and community engagement.
The project runs from 29 July 2024 to 30 August 2025, with daily activities including registration, managing group transitions, tracking progress, and encouraging feedback. Prior to the main delivery, the role involves community outreach and booking support. After delivery, focus shifts to evaluation, data collection, and encouraging participants to join Sea Cadets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Registering and welcoming participants
2. Recording daily project data and progress
3. Managing bookings and waiting lists
4. Engaging with participants and their families about Sea Cadets opportunities
5. Ensuring participant safety and wellbeing
6. Collecting feedback through surveys
7. Attending project meetings
8. Supporting project evaluation
Requirements
* Experience working with volunteers
* Customer service experience
* Experience with young people and diverse communities
* Data tracking and management skills
* Self-motivated and well-organized
* Flexible and enthusiastic team player
* Satisfactory DBS check
