Operations Team Leader - Full time - Denaby, Doncaster
We are seeking a skilled Operations Team Leader to join our chemical production and warehousing team at a COMAH & BRC-regulated facility.
Working Monday to Friday (no evenings or weekends) you will be responsible for leading a small team to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality production and warehousing operations. This includes planning workloads, supervising staff, monitoring KPIs, and driving safety and compliance standards.
Alongside leadership responsibilities, you will also take a hands-on role in operating automated and manual equipment, supporting production and warehouse functions, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and site safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Processing
* Manage weekly and daily production schedules, ensuring full allocation of labour.
* Produce operator workloads and oversee task allocation to ensure KPIs are achieved.
* Conduct Plan vs Actual reviews of production outputs and implement corrective actions.
* Support and lead process improvement initiatives across production operations.
* Assist colleagues with production duties on an ad-hoc basis as required.
* Operate chemical processing and blending equipment in line with batch instructions and safety protocols.
* Use automated drum and IBC filling lines, ensuring accuracy and cleanliness.
* Carry out product sampling, laboratory submissions, and accurate material bookings.
* Manage raw material transfers including ISO tanks and road tanker operations (loading/unloading).
* Complete first-line maintenance tasks and support root cause analysis during equipment breakdowns.
* Achieve daily workload plans and report deviations or delays.
Warehouse & Materials Handling
* Allocate and supervise warehouse workloads to ensure daily KPIs are met.
* Oversee and schedule inbound/outbound deliveries, liaising with third-party hauliers as required.
* Ensure accurate stock records are maintained on ERP systems (IFS/SAP).
* Undertake and organise regular stock checks to minimise stock loss or damage.
* Maintain the security and organisation of warehouse premises and equipment.
* Load and unload road tankers, vehicles, and containers using forklift trucks.
* Operate barcode scanners and systems (such as SAP) for inventory management and batch traceability.
* Support warehouse operations including goods receipt, stock rotation, and picking/packing duties.
* Use counterbalance forklift trucks (licence required); reach truck licence desirable.
Safety & Compliance
* Lead safety initiatives, Near Miss campaigns, and promote a proactive safety culture.
* Ensure all health and safety measures outlined by the Company are adhered to.
* Conduct toolbox talks, departmental meetings, and lead operator 1:1s.
* Maintain plant and machinery in safe working order, ensuring a tidy and compliant working environment.
* Work to strict COMAH, COSHH, and internal HSE standards.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Experience supervising or leading teams in a production/ warehouse environment.
* Strong planning and scheduling skills to manage workload allocation and KPIs.
* Proficient in ERP systems (SAP/IFS) for stock and production management.
* Knowledge of lean/continuous improvement methods.
* Previous experience in a chemical manufacturing, blending or processing environment.
* Strong understanding of chemical handling procedures, ideally on a COMAH site.
* Forklift truck licence – counterbalance (required).
* Competent in operating automated filling lines and chemical batch systems.
* Proficient in using ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and barcode scanning tools.
* Sound knowledge of health, safety, and environmental procedures.
