Our public sector client are looking for a Refuse Drivers to join them initially until end of August Pay Rate - £17.78ph Location – Reading (RG2 0QX) Staff are required to work 37 hours per week, 7.4 hours per working day. The standard working day will be between 06:00am until 14:00pm. The start time may be subject to change in response to the extremes of seasonal weather conditions. We are seeking an experienced HGV Driver to support the refuse collection service. This role involves the removal of domestic and trade waste from houses, shops, schools, and various commercial or domestic establishments. You will play a key role in maintaining cleanliness and environmental standards in the community. Key Responsibilities: * Operate and be responsible for the safe driving of a refuse collection vehicle. * Carry out daily visual vehicle inspections and routine maintenance, including vehicle wash down. * Report any vehicle defects in accordance with reporting procedures. * Safely transport and tip refuse at designated disposal or recycling sites. * Act as chargehand when required, taking responsibility for the collection crew and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely. * Provide excellent customer care and communicate effectively with the public and team members. * Adhere to Health & Safety legislation and follow company codes of practice. * Assist with refuse loading duties when required to support the crew. Requirements: * Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence * Driver CPC Qualification Card * Previous experience in refuse collection or similar waste management services preferred * Strong awareness of Health & Safety regulations * Ability to lead and support a team in the field * Good communication and customer service skills * Physically fit and willing to perform manual tasks Additional Information: * Working hours may be adjusted due to seasonal weather conditions. * This role includes outdoor work in all weather conditions. * The unpaid 30-minute rest break must be taken during the shift, not at the beginning or end, in accordance with ACAS guidelines
