The business is now looking for a highly capable and detail-driven Yard & Transport Manager to join its growing commercial team. The Opportunity As Yard & Transport Manager, you will play a central role in ensuring that scaffold materials, fleet vehicles, and operational resources are efficiently managed, safely handled, and strategically deployed to meet the demands of a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will take full ownership of yard and fleet compliance, lead a multi-disciplinary team, and develop the FORS accreditation and Operator’s Licence management systems. What You’ll Do Yard Operations Oversee the day-to-day functioning of both depots’ yards, maintaining stock control, safe working practices, and clear site layouts. Supervise loading and unloading operations to minimise damage and improve turnaround times. Ensure accurate record-keeping of all equipment, plant and scaffolding components. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, order, and operational readiness across both depots. Transport & Logistics Coordinate daily transport scheduling, dispatch and delivery of materials and equipment to live construction sites. Ensure full compliance with all transport regulations including LOLER, PUWER, FORS, and DVSA requirements. Manage the company’s Operator’s Licence, including reporting, vehicle documentation, servicing schedules, and audits. Monitor and manage vehicle tracking systems and driver performance metrics. Implement route optimisation strategies to reduce costs, delays and environmental impact. Team Management & Leadership Lead, coach and support a team of yard operatives, drivers, and site coordinators. Conduct regular team briefings, toolbox talks and performance reviews. Promote a safety-first culture and ensure team accountability across both depots. Build strong internal communication between logistics, site and project teams. Compliance, Safety & Continuous Improvement Ensure all operations meet current legislative and health & safety standards. Deliver safety training, conduct regular risk assessments and oversee incident reporting. Take responsibility for progressing the company’s FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) accreditation. Proactively identify and implement improvements in yard layout, stock movement, transport logistics and compliance processes. Monitor transport and yard-related budgets, ensuring operational efficiency and cost control. What We're Looking For Previous experience in yard, transport or logistics management. Strong knowledge of transport compliance and legislation. Operator’s Licence management experience essential. Experience with FORS accreditation (implementation or maintenance). Excellent leadership and organisational skills. Ability to manage multi-site teams and conflicting priorities. Comfortable using logistics software and fleet tracking systems. Full UK Driving Licence required (HGV desirable). FLT licence preferred. Proactive approach to staying current with industry and regulatory requirements.
