What does the role involve?
The Assistant Architectural Technologist role supports the Architectural team in the management and delivery of architectural and technical work across a range of projects, helping to ensure that projects and tasks are delivered within the agreed timeframe, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
* Assisting with the preparation of architectural drawings and technical information
* Assisting with project design tasks and feasibility work
* Assisting with site surveys, measured surveys, and the collection of site information
* Producing and amending drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software, assisting in the review of existing and proposed plans
* Helping to prepare planning and building control submission drawings and documentation
* Supporting the processing of planning applications and assisting with the discharge of planning conditions where required
* Assisting in responding to Building Control queries under direction
* Helping to maintain risk registers and document control systems
* Attending site visits with senior team members, clients, and other consultants
* Assisting with project administration and coordination, including timesheets and attending weekly team progress meetings
* Keeping senior team members informed of progress on allocated tasks
* Actively participate in continuous professional development (CPD)
* Always take personal responsibility for the health and safety of self and others by working within the Health and Safety policy and procedures
* Endeavour to improve our social and environmental impact
* Any other duties as reasonably required
Requirements
* A relevant qualification (or working towards one) in Architectural Technology, Architectural Design, or a related discipline
* Some experience or placement experience within an architectural or construction environment is desirable
* A basic understanding of construction technology and building methods
* Awareness of the UK planning and building control process
* Willingness and ambition to work towards professional architectural or CIAT accreditation
* Experience using CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD and Revit) is desirable
* A willingness to learn, develop technical skills, and take guidance from senior staff
* Good organisational skills with the ability to manage allocated tasks effectively
* Strong attention to detail
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal
* A positive, client-focused attitude and a collaborative approach to teamwork
