Overview
Attendance Support and Welfare Officer (part-time) at Madeley School. The role focuses on monitoring, analysing and addressing student attendance, identifying patterns of absence, and implementing strategies to support students returning to regular attendance. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate attendance records, providing welfare support, and promoting positive attendance across the school. The post holder will coordinate targeted support for persistently absent students and work collaboratively with the Pastoral Team, Education Welfare Officer, subject teachers, parents/carers and students.
Responsibilities
* Monitor and analyse student attendance, identify patterns of absence, and implement appropriate strategies to support regular attendance.
* Maintain accurate attendance records and provide welfare support as needed.
* Promote positive attendance across the school and coordinate targeted support for persistently absent students.
* Collaborate with the Pastoral Team, Education Welfare Officer, subject teachers, parents/carers and students to support attendance goals.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Experience with IT systems such as A Star Attendance and Arbor would be advantageous; however, full training will be provided.
* Ability to work with some of the school’s most vulnerable students and their families in a calm, professional manner, with authority and empathy as situations require.
* High level of discretion, commitment to confidentiality, adherence to safeguarding procedures, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Part-time role: Working 21 hours per week, 38 term-time weeks plus 5 inset days (39 weeks per year total).
