Your impact
As a Senior Design Highways Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of delivering technical excellence, innovation, and safety across a wide range of transportation projects. You’ll take ownership of key design deliverables, identify opportunities for automation and process efficiencies, and ensure scope changes are escalated appropriately to maintain programme and budget integrity.
You’ll collaborate closely with discipline leads and project stakeholders to produce high-quality outcomes, while also mentoring and supporting less experienced team members—helping to build capability and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
* Delivery of high-quality design outputs for highways projects, with focus on technical excellence and safety.
* Take ownership of design deliverables, identify automation opportunities, and manage scope changes to protect programme and budget.
* Collaborate with discipline leads and stakeholders; mentor less experienced team members to build capability and foster continuous improvement.
Qualifications
* Design experience in the built environment and transportation.
* Degree in engineering and professional qualifications (e.g., CEng/IEng or equivalent work experience).
* Technical experience delivering local and/or major highways projects or land-side elements in adjacent markets (e.g., Water or Aviation).
* Strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills; able to explain design options to internal and external stakeholders.
* Thorough understanding of design standards such as DMRB, MCHW, or international equivalents.
* Knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and a passion for safety and wellbeing.
* Ability to manage a workload subject to change at short notice and raise early warnings.
* Ability to work independently and effectively within a global multi-disciplinary team.
