Job Summary
We are a friendly, well organised practice based in the South of Stoke-on-Trent looking for an experienced GP to join our team. List size approximately 7000 patients, split over two sites located in Meir Park and Meir. Led and managed by North Staffordshire GP Federation (NSGPF) along with a Practice Manager and Assistant Practice Manager based over two sites. One of the most improved practices in North Staffordshire based on the national patient survey since being run by NSGPF. Clinical support from GP and Nurse Leads at the Federation. Clinical team includes 4 salaried GPs, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses and a Healthcare Support Worker. PCN Team support includes a Practice Nurse, Paramedic, First Contact Physiotherapist, 2 Mental Health workers, 4 session GP, Pharmacy Team, Health Coach and Social Prescribing Team. Low number of home visits. Highly experienced administrative and reception support with workflow redirection and care navigation embedded in practice. EMIS Web clinical system with Docman and AccuRx. Contract and job plan based on BMA model.
Main duties of the job
To perform as an autonomous General Practitioner working independently and with other health care professionals to assess, diagnose and treat the conditions of patients attending within a primary care setting. Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues and ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence. To be involved in the provision of education and training to GP Registrars and other staff. To be professionally accountable and responsible for all elements of clinical practice in accordance with the GMC code of conduct ensuring the safety of patients and quality of their care is primary.
About Us
North Staffordshire GP Federation is a membership organisation supporting North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent primary care, including all 66 GP Practices and 13 Primary Care Networks. NSGPF were awarded the APMS contract for Meir Park and Weston Coyney Surgery on a permanent basis in November 2024, prior to this we held an APMS contract in a caretaker arrangement from 26 July 2021. Job Description and Responsibilities
General Medical Practitioner - Meir Park and Weston Coyney Medical Practice

* Job Type: Permanent
* In accordance with the Practice rota, undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing/authorising repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
* Assess health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Screen disease risk factors and early signs of illness; develop care plans in line with current practice disease management protocols; provide counselling and health education.
* Admit or discharge patients to/from the caseload; refer to other care providers as appropriate.
* Record clear and contemporaneous notes; collect data for audits; issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions; prescribe within formulary as appropriate.
* Visit patients during surgery time in emergencies if clinically indicated; participate in On Call and home visiting sessions as allocated.
Training and Development
Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies; participate in clinical and practice meetings; support medical students and other training roles.

Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: Qualified General Practitioner; Full GMC Registration to practice as a GP; Inclusion on Performers List as a GP; Eligibility for Medical Indemnity Membership; Commitment to professional development.
* Desirable: MRCGP
* Experience: Knowledge of triage; appropriate level of primary care experience; knowledge of clinical governance and Quality and Outcomes Framework; medicines management; ability to cope with stressful situations. Desirable: experience of ICB initiatives and understanding of Patient Choice.
