Water Meadow View is a brand new mental health inpatient unit for adults who have learning disabilities, which is due to open in late Autumn 2025 on our site in Whittingham, Preston. As we prepare to open this unit, we have an exciting opportunity for Staff Nurses to join us and support the Multidisciplinary Team to deliver outstanding person‑centred care.
The post holder will work in collaboration with the clinical leads and the ward manager, and other team members within the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will work a flexible shift pattern including weekend working, providing day‑to‑day direct care. The post holder will ensure the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based, compassionate, person‑centred care and that care is delivered in a safe and clean environment. The post holder will contribute to and participate in the ongoing support of patients and their carers.

Key Responsibilities
* To deliver prescribed care to a defined group of patients within an agreed framework.
* To plan and implement a structured approach to nursing care which takes account of service user choice.
* To accurately observe service users in order to assess needs and evaluate progress.
* To promote an environment for effective practice, complying with all health and safety requirements.
* To manage and supervise junior health‑care staff within the team.
* To ensure that the needs of people with learning disabilities—including their physical and mental health needs as well as spiritual needs—are effectively assessed and managed through the care planning process involving other specialists as appropriate.
* To maintain knowledge and follow all relevant trust policies and procedures.
* To participate in the appraisal process, identifying personal training needs relevant to the specialist area.
* To exercise professional accountability and responsibility using skills, knowledge and expertise in changing environments, across clinical boundaries and in unfamiliar situations as outlined within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
* To actively engage and seek clinical and managerial supervision to support your practice.
* Work within a Positive Behavioural Framework.
Welcome Bonus
* The £3k Welcome Bonus package applies to this role.
* Only available to candidates who are not currently employed (or have not been employed in the last 12 months) by any NHS provider Trust in the Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS) in a like‑for‑like role or core profession.
* Applicable from 1st July 2024 – 31st December 2025.
* Payment Schedule:
o £500 after 2 months of employment (counted from start date with LSCft).
o £500 after 6 months of employment.
o £1,000 after 12 months.
o £1,000 after 24 months.
* Agreements:
o Return all monies paid if the employee does not start on the agreed date detailed within the unconditional offer.
o Return all monies paid if you voluntarily leave within 6 months of commencement.
o Return all monies paid if you move within the Trust from one role to another role which does not attract the welcome bonus within 6 months of commencement.
