What's involved with this role: Temporary School Information Officer/Admin – Migrants Job Ref: Oxfordshire 5247061 Pay Rate: Up to £18.06 per hour PAYE depending on experience Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, 9am to 5pm Role Length: This opening assignment is for 6 months City: Oxford, Oxfordshire Enhanced DBS disclosure required for this role The School Information Officer (Migrants) will lead on processes, curriculum, enrichment, and social integration, to support schools and other providers in their education of newly-arrived migrant children, from Early Years to Sixth Form/16-19 College. The successful candidate will support schools, migrant families and their children in learners’ education readiness at all levels and preparedness for post-18 higher education, employment and training, including apprenticeships. Key Responsibilities: Ensure all relevant elements of the OCC Migrant Education Framework are supported and delivered across Oxfordshire. Support schools, migrant families and their children in ensuring their education readiness at all levels and preparedness for post-18 higher education employment and training, including apprenticeships. Support schools, migrant families and their children in ensuring a full understanding of education provision across all stages, as well as learner financial support e.g. student loans. Develop training for and presentations to migrant families in promoting their understanding of the UK education system, its culture and expectations for learners and parents. Provide copy for the OCC website so that migrant families and their children have a full understanding of the UK education system, with signposting to appropriate providers and support organisations. To ensure all relevant elements of appropriate Information and Guidance is publicised with accurate copy on all relevant web pages and social media. Provide up to date legislation and Government guidance to schools, colleges & EY settings, OCC & District Councils teams, migrant groups & VCS. Support OCC social media and digital news platforms, including the translation of material into relevant languages. Create a simplified version of all relevant parental educational guidance for newly arrived migrants. Ensure appropriate council education teams fully comply with the latest legislation and processes regarding school and College information. Work with translators to prepare content for OCC's website. Work with an Information and Media Administrator to ensure the website is uploaded, that Information and Guidance to be available on the website for migrant parents for ease of understanding will relate to all education provision for 5–18yr olds, including processes such as school admissions, school transport, attendance, school transfers, exams, assessments, reports, free school meals, uniform, house systems, holidays, term-time and key dates, behaviour management, school trips, etc. NB: Please feel free to apply to us direct via jobstclrec.com by quoting the job reference and job title exactly. Two or more years of experience in Careers and Guidance/work in schools with a track record of excellence. Proven, creative problem-solving approach and strong analytical skills Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
