As a Band 2 Track Maintenance Engineer (Data) you will develop a good understanding of Track engineering, with a particular focus on Track Data and increase your knowledge of wider industry theory and practice. You will be working in the Track Maintenance Engineering team, which is involved with a wide range of Track disciplines, including track quality, wheel rail interface, rail defect management, noise & vibration, mechanised maintenance, and technical support.

Day-to-day, your main focus will be on the collection, processing, management, and analysis of engineering data, and applying the data to develop solutions to track engineering issues. There will also be some on site work. You will work alongside experienced Track Engineers and Data Scientists, contributing to improving the management and maintenance of the Track infrastructure across the network and in different modes.

You will have grounding or experience in the fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering (with skills in Data Analysis and Programming), and its practical application to industry. Successful applicants will have their knowledge and experience enhanced within the discipline of Track Engineering. You will build a good understanding of how the track operates within a system and grow in your understanding of complex issues, and how to communicate to a wide range of stakeholders across the TfL organisation.
