Purpose of the Role
To provide environmental and sustainability advice, guidance, and support to the EGL1 Integrated Joint Venture (IJV) project team. The role will focus on ensuring environmental risks are managed effectively across all operations, while supporting continuous improvement and a positive environmental culture throughout the project and its supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and manage environmental risks associated with construction activities within the EGL1 IJV.
Provide visible and proactive environmental support across EGL1 operations and supply chain partners in both England and Scotland.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement the project's environmental and sustainability strategy.
Support the proactive management of environmental risks and opportunities through practical advice and oversight.
Monitor and assess contractor environmental performance and compliance across all EGL1 operations.
Promote and contribute to a positive environmental and sustainability culture throughout the project.
Advise project leadership on environmental performance, targets, risks, and key performance indicators.
Work closely with Scottish Power Transmission and other partners within the EGL1 IJV SHES Team to drive consistent environmental standards.
Respond to and support the management of environmental incidents, including investigation and learning dissemination.
Actively promote a strong SHES (Safety, Health, Environment & Sustainability) culture through consistent, visible, and influential behaviours.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage at all levels of an organisation.
Ability to communicate environmental information clearly and constructively to internal and external stakeholders.
A proactive attitude with enthusiasm for continuous improvement and experience supporting change management initiatives.
Professional demeanour and presence, with the ability to make a positive impression across diverse audiences.
Passion for building and maintaining a strong environmental and sustainability culture.
Excellent organisational, planning, and time management skills.
Experience working with environmental regulatory agencies and external stakeholders.
Full UK driving licence (essential due to travel across England and Scotland)
