Job Overview
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions. This role provides high‑quality secretarial and administrative support to medical staff within Adult Primary Care Mental Health Services. Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes, and all other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements.
Employment Details
Duration: Fixed‑term, Part‑time
Base location: Eastwood
Shift pattern: Monday – Friday, 9 am–5 pm
Key Responsibilities
* Audio typing of clinic letters, discharge summaries, reports, appointment letters and general correspondence using Winscribe.
* Managing enquiries via telephone and face‑to‑face from staff, patients, relatives, carers and external agencies, prioritising appropriately.
* Maintaining patient data on departmental databases and hospital systems.
* Updating waiting lists, including processing referrals, adding patients to lists and booking appointments.
* General administrative duties such as filing, scanning reports and supporting role cover when required.
* Working independently within defined protocols, with guidance available from a supervisor or line manager.
Qualifications and Experience
* Understanding of NHS GGC policies, including Health & Safety, GDPR and Confidentiality.
* Ability to work on own initiative after induction and on‑the‑job training.
* Participation in a Personal Development Plan.
* Awareness of secondment requirements for internal and external applicants.
