Milk Education is recruiting Graduate Social & Emotional Classroom Support staff to work in primary schools across South Tyneside, supporting pupils with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
Graduate Social & Emotional Classroom Support role is Ideal for:
1. Psychology Graduates
2. Criminology Graduates
3. Counselling, Mental Health or Youth Work graduates
4. Aspiring Educational Psychologists, Teachers, Therapists or SEN Specialists
5. Graduates seeking paid, practical experience in education
(Previous school experience is helpful but not essential — training can be provided.)
Graduate Social & Emotional Classroom Support role – Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs You’ll Support
You may work with pupils who experience:
6. Anxiety and worries around school
7. Low mood or emotional withdrawal
8. Difficulties with emotional regulation
9. Attachment and relationship needs
10. Behavioural challenges linked to emotions
11. Low self-esteem and confidence
12. Trauma-related responses
13. Social interaction and communication difficulties
Support is typically provided 1:1 or in small groups, helping pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
Graduate Social & Emotional Classroom Support Role
As a Graduate Social & Emotional Classroom Support Worker, you will:
14. Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
15. Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
16. Help pupils engage with learning and routines
17. Work closely with class teachers and SEN teams
18. Contribute to a calm, nurturing classroom environment
