A top 30 M&E contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead the electrical delivery of a significant custodial redevelopment project in Suffolk. The scheme includes refurbishment of existing prison infrastructure alongside the construction of new-build facilities, including houseblocks, healthcare units, workshops, education spaces, catering areas, and recreational facilities.
With a 2-year programme and an M&E value in the region of £20 million, this is a high-profile project requiring technical oversight, coordination and leadership. Key responsibilities
*
Lead the electrical delivery of the custodial project from preconstruction through to final handover
*
Manage programme scheduling, procurement, resourcing and subcontractor coordination
*
Monitor installation progress, resolve technical queries, and ensure compliance with programme and specification
*
Oversee health and safety standards, risk assessments and site compliance
*
Track and manage financial performance, variations, and final accounts
*
Liaise directly with the client and professional teams, acting as the main point of contact for electrical delivery
*
Ensure successful commissioning and completion, including full O&M documentation
*
Manage subcontractor performance and drive delivery to high standards
What we’re looking for
*
Proven track record managing electrical packages on large-scale M&E projects (ideally up to £6m+)
*
Previous experience delivering secure, custodial, MOD or healthcare sector schemes is highly advantageous
*
Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage cost and variation control
*
Confident communicator with experience leading client-facing meetings
*
Able to lead on procurement, programming, labour forecasting and handover documentation
*
Experience managing multiple subcontractors and ensuring accountability throughout the supply chain
Certifications required:

This role is open to UK-based candidates with relevant building services experience. Preference will be given to those with custodial or high-security sector backgrounds, though consideration will also be given to candidates with MOD or healthcare experience on similar-scale projects.
