Job SummaryTorfaen Community Transport is a local charity working in the community to improve the well-being of local people. As well as providing a range of transport services for residents we also operate the Shopmobilty store in Cwmbran
The Role As our services grow, we are seeking a driver/ supervisor to be responsible for the daily running of the Community Transport Services and all functions therein, to ensure that all services are able to run smoothly. Community Transport tasks are many and varied and a large degree of flexibility and working at pace/problem solving is to be expected. This role will involve a combination of office based tasks alongside the driving community transport vehicles.
Responsibilities
* Leading the Community Transport staff team including supporting the Manager with the induction of new staff and the management and development of all team members.
* Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Community Transport service.
* Lead on the induction and development of new drivers, volunteer drivers and companions used within the Community Transport services
* Work with the Manager to ensure compliance of Community Transport vehicles to Section 19 operating licenses and all general vehicle regulations.
* Oversee arrangements for all repair and maintenance requirements.
* Ensure all contracted services operate to the required standards as specified by our clients
* Prepare weekly drivers schedule and duties.
* Allocate Dial a Ride journeys as required
* Ensure all data such as passenger and mileage figures required are coordinated and up to date.
* Where require assist with the operation of the Shopmobilty store.
* To act as relief driver when required
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Experience of leading and supporting staff and volunteers.
Computer literate with experience of working with databases to manage information efficiently.
Applicants must be over 21 (for insurance purposes) have at last 2 years driving experience and hold a Cat D1 driving licence (no more than 3 points)
Must have excellent customer facing skills and be able to provide a high level of customer service treating customers with courtesy and respect.
A Current Enhanced DBS certificate and Safeguarding Certificate is required as part of the post. If you do not hold these already, we are able to assist you in applying for these
At least two years expereince in passenger trasnsport.

· Excellent organisational, time-management and accuracy skills, and the ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
· An understanding of confidentiality, diversity & equal opportunities and safeguarding issues and a commitment to implementing them in all aspects of the work.
Previous Supervisory experience would be an advantage
A can-do attitude with the willingness to undertake further training, as required.
Employment conditions
Community Transport operates 06.00am - 7.00pm Monday to Friday and 11.00 am -7.00pm Saturdays. The post holder is expected to work four days a week, exact working hours are flexible and subject to the needs of the business. Occasionally you may be required to work Saturday or Bank Holidays.
