Job Description
New Directions are currently recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants on the Wirral. These roles are based in a welcoming and inclusive primary school that provides a nurturing environment for children in KS1. The school is dedicated to supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with a strong focus on early intervention, emotional wellbeing, and helping every child grow in confidence and independence.
As an EYFS / KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant you will:
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEND
• Support children with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual support plans
• Assist with classroom activities, adapting resources to meet individual needs
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning
• Support pupils with personal care where required
• Monitor and record progress, feeding back to teaching staff
Suitable applicants will:
• Have experience supporting children with SEND, particularly in EYFS or KS1
• Be patient, caring, and understanding of individual learning needs
• Have strong communication and teamwork skills
• Be committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Be motivated to make a real difference at an early stage of a child’s development
