EC&I Design Engineer – Process Control – £48‑55k + Hybrid Working
Samuel Frank is recruiting for an EC&I Design Engineer to join a well-established, growing engineering business operating within process‑led industries. The role is predominantly office‑based with very limited site work and would suit an EC&I Design Engineer who enjoys structured, collaborative working in a fast‑paced environment.
Key aspects of the EC&I Design Engineer role
* EC&I Design Engineer will be responsible for electrical, control and instrumentation design across a range of process‑based projects
* EC&I Design Engineer will produce key documentation including FDS, P&IDs and contribute to FAT/SAT activities
* Very limited site work, with most of the role focused on design and development in‑house
* Strong emphasis on collaborative working – shared standards, consistent design approaches and continuous improvement across the team
* EC&I Design Engineer will contribute to standardisation and modular design frameworks across the product range
* Involvement in value engineering activities to improve efficiency, reduce cost and enhance system performance
* Fast‑paced environment with multiple projects running simultaneously
* Process control environments such as water treatment, chemical or food & beverage, pharmaceutical, nuclear or oil & gas environments
Requirements for the EC&I Design Engineer role
* Experience in EC&I design within an industrial or process environment
* Strong understanding of hazardous area compliance – ATEX experience is essential
* Knowledge of UL directives would be advantageous
* Ability to produce and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs and technical documentation
* Experience contributing to functional design specifications and system design
* Comfortable working in a collaborative, structured engineering team
