How You Make a Difference
The Nurse Practitioner (NP), under supervision of the Site Medical Director and physicians, offers comprehensive medical services to incarcerated patients following policies and state guidelines. They document services accurately for monitoring and coordinate coverage if unavailable.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide medical care, including exams, chronic care, and infirmary rounds.
* Document progress notes in SOAP format, adhering to formulary guidelines.
* Respond to emergencies, make decisions on non-formulary drugs or off-site referrals.
* Support policies for admissions, transfers, and specialty referrals.
* Maintain confidentiality and participate in facility committees as needed.
Additional Details
Location: Milwaukee Co Jail
Schedule: 1.0 FTE dayshift, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday, with on-call duties. Must work holidays and possibly every 5th weekend.
Requirements: DEA license, BLS certification.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education
* Graduate of an accredited nursing school
* Advanced degree in an approved Nurse Practitioner program
Experience
* Prior medical/surgical, emergency, trauma, or corrections experience preferred
* Patience and tact for working with inmate patients
* Flexible scheduling for shifts and emergency coverage
Licenses/Certifications
* Current Nurse Practitioner license in the state of employment
* CPR certification
