Job Summary
Care Navigator in a busy Town Centre practice covering two sites. This is a reception office role that requires working hard, flexibility and a team‑oriented attitude.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist patients in accessing services courteously and efficiently.
* Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and visitors.
* Adminise: maintain thorough knowledge of all practice procedures, scan relevant documents into patient records, and keep accurate administrative records.
* Reception duties: receive patients, direct self‑arrival where appropriate, promote services such as online registration, patient partner, texting and Accurx.
* Appointments: process appointment requests via telephone, online and in person; handle visit requests.
* Computer: register new patients, process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines.
* Telephone: use a headset for incoming and outgoing calls following health and safety guidelines, answer all calls promptly using the practice script, and deal with queries as per the practice protocols.
* Other tasks: check surgeries at the end of the day, ensure building security, and perform any additional duties allocated by the Administrator Team and Management Team.
* Maintain confidentiality: respect patient privacy and handle sensitive information in strict accordance with confidentiality policies.
* Support health & safety, equality & diversity, professional development, quality, communication and teamwork initiatives as outlined in the practice policy.
Work Hours
Monday 8:00–18:30, Tuesday 13:30–18:30, Wednesday 13:30–18:30, Saturday 9:00–12:00 (23 hours per week). This is a part‑time, flexible position.
Location
Thorne Road, Doncaster, South Yorkshire DN1 2EU (practice sites at Kingthorne and Edenthorpe).
Qualifications and Experience
* Good educational background.
* Prior experience working in a primary care reception is desirable.
* Experience with the SystmOne platform is desirable.
* A–C grade or equivalent in English and Maths (desirable).
* Ability to work under pressure, work well in a team and willingness to learn.
Salary and Contract
£12.71 per hour. Permanent part‑time contract.
