My client is looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join their team who are a well-established manufacturing company supplying specialist equipment to the semiconductor industry. Their ideal candidate will have proven experience in producing high-quality SolidWorks models, assemblies, and fully toleranced manufacturing drawings for both mechanical and electromechanical machines.
Design Engineer role:
The successful design engineer will be responsible for working closely with the Design, Production and testing teams and be responsible for mechanical & electro-mechanical designs while contributing to continuous improvement of existing platforms and components.
The role is hands-on and practical, involving precision mechanical design, vacuum-compatible systems, motion and drive mechanisms.
You will receive training to allow you to produce subsystems and complete design packages.
You would be office based with occasional travel in the UK or abroad to support customers.
The hours of work are 8.30am to 5pm with 45 minutes for lunch.
Design Engineer requirement:
Proven design software experience with SolidWorks
Ideally qualified to degree level in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 5years design experience in either semiconductor, vacuum systems, precision machinery or scientific / research instrumentation.
Experience in the design of complex assemblies, advanced GD&T, tolerance stack-ups.
Strong grounding in physics and engineering mathematics
Stress and deflection calculations, thermo-Fluid calculations, material selection trade-offs
Experience with manufacturing techniques which include Machining, Sheet metal, Surface treatments and coatings.
Lifecycle Analysis (LCA), Design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA)
Rapid prototyping and iterative development.
Design Engineer package:
Salary range between £40k and £45k per annum
