The Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
This is a permanent, full:time position (36.75 hours per week). Part:time options (3 or 4 days, including Tuesday) may also be considered.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be based in small classes within our specialist school, providing a vital role where no two days are the same. You will use behaviourally based instruction and positive reinforcement techniques to accelerate pupils learning.
Core Duties Include:
* Teaching and Support: Delivering teaching and support, either 1:1 or in a group, following pupils individualised curricula and specialised support plans.
* Lesson Delivery: Planning, preparing, and delivering lessons/activities and teaching sessions to encourage pupil development.
* Behaviour Management: Providing behaviourally based instruction in line with established behaviour guidelines.
* Personal Care: Encouraging personal and environmental hygiene, including providing personal care (toileting, feeding) as necessary.
* Resource Contribution: Contributing to the production and maintenance of curricular and teaching materials.
* Professional Growth: Progressing personal development through practical and theoretical training.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this training and development role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
* Education: Minimum Grade C/4 GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths.
* Experience: Professional, personal, or voluntary experience working with children and disabilities.
* Required Attributes:
* Comfortable working with children who exhibit challenging behaviour.
* Comfortable supporting others with personal/intimate care where required.
* Ability to keep calm in high:pressure situations.
* A positive, can:do attitude.
* Commitment: Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
* Eligibility: Eligibility to work in the UK (the successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check).
