Join to apply for the NMC Cyber Detect Analyst role at Police Digital Service. Two permanent full‑time positions are available, with salary £45,000 per annum.


About Police Digital Service

The National Management Centre (NMC) is part of Police Digital Services and provides visibility and control of information risks for policing. It supports the 24x7x365 nature of police operations, delivering a threat detection and response capability for digital services before, during and after cyber-attacks, enabling stakeholders to understand and proactively manage risk across the technology estate at both the national and force level.


Key Responsibilities

* Respond to immediate security threats on NMC monitored networks that may impact the client network.
* Detect, analyse, investigate, and respond to cyber‑security alerts using the NMC’s tools and processes.
* Collaborate with Incident Response Teams and other NMC teams to address security issues quickly.
* Perform initial triage of alerts, evaluate and detect potential incidents.
* Confirm or dismiss false positives and provide incident data gathering.
* Assess incident severity and provide feedback on gaps and tuning opportunities.
* Escalate potential incidents to customers or Senior Cyber Detect Analysts / CIMT as appropriate.
* Conduct trend analysis of force‑by‑force events and present findings to forces at regular intervals.
* Contribute continuous input into the optimisation of content and processes.
* Engage relevant stakeholders, including national police forces, during alert assessment.
* Maintain situational awareness of network changes, problems, incidents, and critical assets.
* Ensure comprehensive understanding of all NMC services and their interoperability.
* Participate in performance conversations and pursue personal development and coaching.


Qualifications & Experience

* Ability to acquire SC and NPPV3 level clearances; all applicants must be eligible for NPPV3 and SC clearances.
* Experience in a fast‑paced operational cyber‑security environment.
* Strong teamwork and customer‑facing experience.
* Knowledge of security methodologies, processes, and commonly deployed cyber‑security tools and products.
* Understanding of common internet protocols and IP network components.
* Proficiency with SIEM technology, handling alerts and determining escalation or closure.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate technical speak into plain English.
* High attention to detail, ability to multi‑task, prioritise and manage time effectively.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
* Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills.
* Motivated, driven, and capable of working independently without direction.
* Genuine enthusiasm for cyber‑security and continuous learning.
