Our client is currently seeking to recruit a Learning Support Officer to join their team in Newtownards.

Pay rate is £ per hour plus Holiday pay.

The position is temporary, ongoing, working 28 hours per week.

They are a leading provider of high-quality programmes and services for people with diverse needs and barriers, especially those furthest from the labour market. They offer a range of 'Employability' and 'Community Development' programmes, delivered through an individualised, tailored wraparound approach, including health and well-being initiatives, training and skills development, accredited qualifications, and employability support.

About the Job Role:

The client is seeking staff to provide specialist disability support to young people requiring assistance while participating in the Skills for Life and Work, Training for Success, and/or Apprenticeships NI Programme.

This role also involves administrative duties to ensure records of support are accurate, completed, and returned promptly.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Core Duties

* Provide direct one-to-one and group-based disability support according to an agreed schedule of activities.
* Support the tutor by delivering appropriate disability specialist learning support for participants.
* Assist the DSS Co-ordinator with monitoring and evidencing progress against Performance Targets.
* Stimulate and promote effective, learner-centred independent learning strategies to enable participation and increase motivation and self-esteem.
* Maintain accurate and timely records to support ongoing monitoring and review of support, raising immediate issues or concerns with the line manager.

General Duties:

* Adhere to the Group's 'Code of Conduct', maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and quality standards across all interactions.
* Perform duties in compliance with policies and procedures, including equal opportunities, health and safety legislation, and data protection.
* Demonstrate commitment by completing tasks, attending staff development opportunities, and maintaining professional competency.

Person Specification:

Skills and Competencies:

· Knowledge of supporting people with disabilities in employment, education, or training settings (D)

· Ability to work with participants with varying needs (D)

· Proficient in ICT, including MS Office Suite and SharePoint (E)

Qualifications and Training:

· Educated to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, including Maths and English (E)

· Good IT skills for data presentation (E)

Experience:

· Proven experience working with young people with diverse needs, supporting goal setting and progression (E)

Skills and Attributes:

· Well-organized with strong relationship-building skills (E)

· Flexible, adaptable, and results-oriented (E)

· Self-motivated and team-oriented (E)

· Excellent time management and prioritization skills (E)

· Capable of reporting progress effectively and managing workload (E)

· Timely completion of paperwork and reports (E)

· Flexible, adaptable, and innovative (D)

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (E)

· Youth work, teaching, or pastoral care experience to support young people's progression while maintaining boundaries (D)

· Commitment to safeguarding children, young people, and adults, with an enhanced DBS check required (E)
