Job Description
Play a vital role in developing systems that protect airborne platforms from RF-based threats. At ALTEN, we're supporting cutting-edge electronic warfare programmes that require precision, safety, and performance. As a Systems Engineering Consultant, you'll be part of a highly skilled team working on requirements-driven radar technologies. You'll contribute directly to the design and development of high-integrity systems that are critical to national defence. Key Details:
Location: On-site in Hastings
Security Clearance: Must be SC clearable
Experience Level: 5+ years' experience in Systems Engineering
Key Responsibilities:
Define, manage, and validate system-level requirements for complex radar and electronic systems
Support the design and development lifecycle, ensuring traceability and compliance with defence standards
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across hardware, software, and integration functions
Apply structured systems engineering methodologies within V-model or similar lifecycle frameworks
Create and maintain robust technical documentation, specifications, and traceability matrices
Engage with stakeholders to ensure technical alignment, risk management, and system performance
Qualifications
Required Skills:
Strong background in Electronics Engineering with applied experience in radar or RF-based systems
Demonstrable capability in requirements gathering, analysis, and system architecture
Proficiency with requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS, Jama )
Familiarity with MBSE, SysML, or UML techniques
Experience within defence, aerospace, or mission-critical environments
Excellent communication and systems thinking across engineering teams
Required Qualifications:
Must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC)
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field OR
Relevant UK Armed Forces technical background with proven systems engineering experience
Desirable Skills:
Experience with electronic warfare, signal processing, or sensor integration
Knowledge of safety-critical or mission-critical standards (e.g. DEF STAN, MIL-STD )
Exposure to lab-based testing, hardware integration, or system simulation environments
Understanding of model-based systems engineering and tools like Cameo or Rhapsody
