DWP is seeking a Lead Analyst within the Contract Management and Partnership Delivery (CMPD) directorate.
The role primarily involves leading a large analytical division, Contracted Health and Employment Analysis (CHEA), supporting decision-making, programme design, performance management, and continuous improvement to ensure the department pays only for the services and outcomes it requires.
The post provides critical analytical advice to stakeholders including Ministers and HMT, supporting decisions on investment, contract design, procurement, grants, and extensions. The Lead Analyst will also evaluate provision and build the evidence base, leading a geographically dispersed team of approximately 50 professionals across various analytical disciplines.

The successful candidate will:
* Set a clear vision for analytical work in CMPD, collaborating with the Director and Deputy Directors to maximize the influence of quality analysis.
* Demonstrate strong leadership, fostering capability, staff engagement, and a collaborative culture across the division.
* Work with colleagues across DWP and externally to develop analysis that supports delivery of employment programmes like Restart, which support hundreds of thousands of people at an annual cost of approximately £400 million.
* Influence stakeholders across DWP and HMT to support funding decisions.
* Ensure appropriate MI and analysis are in place for decision-making, funding, and performance management related to the Functional Assessment Service (FAS) contracts, which conduct around 2 million assessments annually at a cost exceeding £600 million.
* Provide high-level analytical advice through formal submissions and verbal communication to senior officials and external organizations such as the National Audit Office and the Office for Budget Responsibility.
* Participate as a member of the Senior Civil Service and Senior Analytical Leadership Team, supporting diversity, inclusion, talent, and capability development.
